Today at CEW, we spotlight the funding gap in the femtech industry, as reported by Female Quotient in its latest newsletter. According to Female Quotient, the femtech apps designed to transform women’s health are founded by about 70% women, however, men lead the charge when it comes to investment in the companies.

According to a report in startupsmagazine.com, the U.K. currently leads the way with a record number of female leaders in FTSE350 companies. “Top British companies are continuing to lead the way for gender equality in boardrooms, with more than 60% of firms nearing the 40% board representation target ahead of schedule,” writes Anna Wood. “The report highlights the U.K.’s global leadership in driving gender diversity in corporate leadership.” Meanwhile, ceotodaymagazine.com profiles Karen S. Lynch, President and CEO of CVS Health, reporting on how she is “driving innovation in healthcare services, making them more accessible and consumer-focused,” at the Fortune 4 company.

In breaking news, Unilever has announced that its CEO Hein Schumacher is stepping down, after less than two years at the company. He will be succeeded in the role by Fernando Fernandez, Unilever’s Chief Financial Officer, on March 1. 

Oddity Tech Ltd. has shared its financial results for Q4 and the full-year ended December 31, 2024. The owner of Il Makiage and Spoiled Child, grew 27% last year and reported net revenue of $124 million for its fourth quarter. Meanwhile, WWD reports that Initio Parfums Privés has partnered with Dsm-Firmenich to produce a new functional fragrance collection, designed to “enhance well-being, boost confidence or stir desire.”

Saltair, the body care brand founded by model and beauty entrepreneur Iskra Lawrence, is entering Ulta Beauty. The range will be available at all 1,400 + brick and mortar U.S. locations. In other news, the Brazilian cosmetics manufacturer Natura & Co has entered exclusive talks with IG4, the asset manager, regarding the possible sale of Avon’s operations outside Latin America.

In hairdressing, The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) has announced the 36th annual North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) finalists, which honor the salon industry’s most creative, boundary-pushing artists.
