At CEW today, we spotlight Spate’s new Proprietary Index (Pop Index), a metric which combines Google Search and TikTok data to give an overview of trends across platforms.  The Pop Index will help brands to identify opportunities for capitalizing on the most prominent platforms, while exploring those which are less dominant, ultimately yielding whitespace opportunities. 

In executive news, Sephora has tapped Catherine Spindler as its new President of Europe and Middle East. Previously at Lacoste, Spindler takes over at the helm from Sylvie Moreau, effective January 27. “Catherine’s mission will be to continue writing Sephora’s growth trajectory in Europe and the Middle East with our talented teams, gaining market shares in this historic region for Sephora,” said Guillaume Motte, President and CEO of Sephora. In other Sephora news, the retailer is said to be set to ‘redesign every store in its portfolio’, according to a report published by Retail Dive.

And in other international news, The Association of Nigerian Women Business Network (ANWBN) has founded a program aimed at empowering widows, women entrepreneurs, and vulnerable women.

On the launch front, the founders of Glamnetic press-on nails have unveiled Digi Beauty, a Gen Z and Gen A-targeted range of 18 press-on nails featuring nail art. It was co-developed with Ulta Beauty, where it launches on Sunday at 450 stores and online. Meanwhile, Dolce & Gabbana called on Italian filmmaker Giuseppe Tornatore for its new Devotion For Men Eau de Parfum advert, shot in Palermo, Sicily.

In tech news, Haut.AI has debuted SkinGPT. The new, generative AI technology tool is designed to bring “true virtual skin care try-ons to the beauty industry.”
