More than a main event celebrating the best in beauty, the CEW 2024 Beauty Expo was an experience that fostered connections and community. The exclusive event drew 1,500 industry executives, who, as CEW members, were also eligible to vote for this year’s Beauty Awards. “CEW’s 2024 Beauty Expo was a vibrant celebration of innovation, creativity, and community,” writes Andrea Nagel, in a special report at CEW. “From innovative product showcases to engaging spa services and delicious treats, the Expo set a new standard for what beauty events can achieve.”
Raffaella Cornaggia, CEO of Kering Beauté, has given her first interview in the role to WWD, outlining her vision and mission for the future. “We created this division in January 2023 with the clear ambition of building and leveraging the maximum potential of our maisons’ beauty category,” she said. “We have among the most beautiful houses in the luxury industry in the portfolio.” Among them are Bottega Venetta, Balenciaga, and Alexander McQueen (for whom Kering owns the beauty rights), along with Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent (Coty Inc. and L’Oréal hold these licenses, respectively).
On Saturday, Goop unveiled its first retinol product: 3x Retinol Regenerative Serum. With the launch, founder Gwyneth Paltrow said that she hopes to address some of the issues associated with retinol use, including redness and dryness. “After seeing our clinicals, I knew I could trust it,” she said. In other skin care news, Bravo Sierra – the military-inspired range which made its debut in 2019— has relaunched with a range of prestige hair and skin care products. “Since day one, we give back a portion of every purchase to support the well-being of military families and veterans. We have donated over $500,000 to date,” the brand states at its website. Meanwhile, Credo is marking its tenth anniversary with the launch of a vetiver-infused skin care range, and comedian Jack Whitehall has been tapped by CeraVe as the ambassador of its new anti-misinformation campaign. #FactCheckYourFeed.
In brick-and-mortar news, clean cosmetics brand Ami Colé is expanding its Sephora footprint. The brand is rolling out across nearly 600 doors, having launched in stores in 2022. The timing coincides with Ami Colé receiving an undisclosed sum of capital from BOLD, L’Oréal’s venture capital arm.
