Why is CEW membership important to you?

CEW is the epicenter of the beauty industry.  Not only does CEW journalism keep me informed – but CEW forums, events and networking opportunities are critical for me to stay in touch.  As a beauty entrepreneur living in Canada, CEW keeps me deeply connected to the industry.

Do you have any tips for getting the most out of CEW membership?

Engage as much as possible.  Leverage the daily industry insights and the events as much as you can.  Make time for CEW as it will pay dividends.   We are lucky to have such a powerhouse organization in our industry.

What advice would you give someone who is inspired by your career and one day wants to be in a similar position?

My advice would be to network and absorb as much advice as you can.  Don’t be afraid to open your business up to constructive feedback and criticism.  Don’t be too precious about your idea.  I would have avoided many of my mistakes if I had asked more questions of industry colleagues and experts.

What do you feel is the most important quality for someone to possess in order you have a successful career?

Be a good listener.   Learn from others by observing, asking questions and really listening to their answers (both the content and how they deliver it).  It takes humility and vulnerability to be a good listener.   You don’t always need to have the answers.
