Jean-André Rougeot is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sephora Americas. Mr. Rougeot has a proven track record as an inspirational and aspirational leader, as well as a successful brand builder in beauty and retail, both in the U.S. and internationally. His focus is now on leading Sephora’s strong team and developing growth strategies in the Americas in order to maintain Sephora’s position as the number one prestige beauty omni-retailer and most loved beauty community.
Mr. Rougeot joined Sephora Americas in February 2019 from Benefit Cosmetics where he spent twelve years as CEO. Previously, he was President and CEO of the Coty Division of Coty, Inc. For the past 20 years, Mr. Rougeot has kept a close eye on Sephora’s growth strategies, which have been breaking all traditional rules of beauty retailing and believes that Sephora’s strong DNA will enable it to continue to push boundaries and revolutionize the beauty industry, bringing something new to the client at every touchpoint.
In 2019, under Mr. Rougeot and his leadership team, Sephora launched its award-winning “We Belong to Something Beautiful” campaign reinforcing their commitment to diversity and inclusion, a reflection of Sephora’s brand ethos in inspiring fearlessness. Additionally, Sephora’s real estate strategy has seen an important shift, with a significant increase in the number of store openings for 2020, making the store experience more accessible to all clients. In an everchanging beauty landscape now more competitive than ever, Sephora has a clear strategic vision to surprise and delight its clients.
Mr. Rougeot is a graduate of the ESCP-EAP French Business School and a Baker Scholar from Harvard Business School. He and his wife live in the Bay Area but escape from time to time in the summer to the family cottage in Maine to sail and paddleboard.
