Stella M. Nkomo

Stella M. Nkomo is currently Strategic Professor in the Department of Human Resource Management at the University of Pretoria.  Her academic career spans two continents. She was Professor and Head of the Department of Management at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (USA), Visiting Scholar at the Tuck School of Business, and the Bateman Distinguished Professor of Business Leadership at the School of Business Leadership (South Africa). Her internationally recognized research on race, gender, diversity, and leadership in organizations has been published in numerous journals. In 2009, she received the Sage Scholarly Contributions Award from the Gender & Diversity in Organizations Division of the Academy of Management for her pioneering research on diversity in the workplace.  She is a sought-after speaker and consultant and trainer for organizations in South Africa, Europe, and the United States and a past board member of the Center for Creative Leadership. She was the founding president of the Africa Academy of Management and the recipient of the 2017 International Leadership Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
