Today at CEW, we report on the announcement that Fabrizio Freda, CEO of The Estée Lauder Companies, will retire from his role at the end of the 2025 fiscal year – commencing the end of June – amid news of disappointing Q4 earnings results and mutli-year challenges. “We are positioning the company for a stronger future,” said Freda, who has been at the helm of the company for 16 years. “Freda’s successor will step into a role not only challenged by an unrelenting slowdown in China, but also a slowdown in beauty consumption, the need for greater — and faster — innovation, and a challenging beauty landscape for 2025” writes CEW reporter Faye Brookman.

Also at CEW, the August 2024 Product Watch has dropped, showcasing new skin care arrivals of note from Beekman 1802, Natura Bissé, Rodan + Fields, and HPPY Skin (with its cold-pressed Cryo Masks); Dyson’s hair care debut, and makeup launches from JinSoon, Guerlain x Pucci. In addition, Gucci has added Gorgeous Orchid to its Flora scent franchise. “The campaign features a short film starring Miley Cyrus, shot against the backdrop of Los Angeles and the iconic Hollywood sign,” reports Polly Blitzer for CEW.

In breaking fragrance news, Tory Burch has tapped Kendall Jenner as the face of its new Sublime fragrance, which was created by Shiseido Americas, and Dior has revealed the first image of Rihanna’s J’adore campaign. Meanwhile, the hotly awaited new Chloé L’Eau de Parfum Intense is now available for pre-order. The woody floral scent “interprets the Maison’s signature flower in its most powerful ever incarnation,” according to Chloé.

In skin care, Glow Recipe will launch Blackberry Retinol Blemish Serum on September 4, supported by a social media campaign featuring 100 influencers. “They’re either Glow Recipe fans, members of our community program, or people who have been posting using the #AdultAcne, #SkinPositivity hashtags on social media posts — we found them and started these conversations with them,” said Christine Chang, the brand’s co-founder and co-CEO. Meanwhile, in breaking brick and mortar news, Sephora is expanding its beauty tools offering in stores, with Canopy’s portable humidifiers and showerheads entering 100 stores nationwide.
