The first CEW Product Watch of the year has dropped, showcasing the most buzzed-about beauty launches across all categories. Polly Blitzer reveals the new products of note for January 2024, ranging from Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Brow Freeze Gel, a transparent wax/gel hybrid, to Ilia Beauty’s super-sheer, multi-active The Base Face Milk, which offers an alternative to traditional moisturizer. “As we enter 2024, the skin care landscape continues to get more and more crowded. Consumers feel overwhelmed by complicated, multi-step routines,” founder Sasha Plavsic tells Blitzer, who unpacks the innovations behind all the product picks at CEW today.

In executive news, Savannah Sachs has been named CEO of the luxury skin care brand Eighth Day, created by eminent skin cancer surgeon Dr. Antony Nakhla. Prior to joining Eighth Day Sachs served as the CEO of Tula, leading it to best-selling status as a cleanical brand, which ultimately led to its acquisition by Procter & Gamble. Additionally, Sephora has named Anca Marola its new Global Chief Digital Officer. Marola, who previously led business intelligence, client and customer experience at LVMH, will be focusing on enhancing Sephora’s omnichannel customer experience, taking over the role from Marc Abergel. And at Chanel, Christine Dagousset, who first joined Chanel in 1998 and was most recently the brand’s Global Open Innovation Officer, is leaving the company.

In tech, CEW reports on the first time a beauty company has delivered a keynote at the annual CES event. Nicolas Hieronimus, L’Oréal Groupe’s CEO, took center stage at the trade show last week, stating that “we believe that tech can push the boundaries of what’s possible to help us improve the lives of consumers around the world and cater to the infinite diversity of beauty needs and aspirations of every individual.” As part of his address, Hieronimus showcased L’Oréal’s new hairdryer, AirTight.

Hiromi Ueda has been named Armani’s new Global Makeup Artist, succeeding Linda Cantello. “I can’t wait to collaborate with the Armani beauty team to evolve their product line and create some amazing images together,” said the Japanese-born make-up artist, who has trained her brushes backstage at Armani Privé, Giorgio Armani, and Emporio Armani shows.

Its inaugural event in North America, the first Cosmoprof Miami opens its doors in under two weeks. Find out everything you need to know at CEW, where members can also save 25% on registration.
