Toty, Sofia Vergara’s skin care and cosmetics brand, is “celebrating the beauty of inclusion,” reports WWD, by inking its first brick and mortar partnership. The range, which has also just dropped a new retinol serum, is launching in-store at Thirteen Lune, the retailer renowned for devoting 90% of its counter space to color-founded companies. “I’m excited because our mission and values align in supporting and advocating for powerful black and brown women entrepreneurs,” Vergara told WWD. “They believe that inclusivity starts with the ownership and amplifying founders that represent the communities, which is something that I’ve always believed in.”
Jamika Martin, meanwhile, has set up Flora Studios to provide support for BIPOC beauty entrepreneurs. The founder of Rosen Skincare will offer “behind-the-scenes services,” including formulation and manufacturing. And Business Of Fashion has a special report on how female founders are finding investors in the current climate. “Sinking brand valuations, a shaky economy and the rollback of DEI initiatives are pressuring women founders in fashion and beauty,” it stated.
In other breaking news, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that it is providing summary data from the mandatory registration of cosmetic product facilities and listing of cosmetic products. “Under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA), manufacturers and processors of a cosmetic product for distribution in the United States must register their facilities with the FDA and renew their registration every two years,” reported Happi.
In sustainability updates, the updated Small Plastics Recovery Report 2025, published by the Center for the Circular Economy at Closed Loop Partners, is exploring a possible new recycling opportunity, which would involve the reintegration of small-format plastics into the supply chain. The report has backing from key industry sponsors including L’Oréal, P&G, and Maybelline New York.
In international headlines, kdc/one, the beauty and personal care manufacturer, has partnered with India’s Clarion Group. They have formed a new entity, called kdc/one Clarion Beauty Pvt Ltd., designed to boost beauty packaging and formulation capabilities in the Indian beauty market. Meanwhile, Oriflame has garnered the support of over 85% of its bondholders for the recapitalisation transaction it announced earlier this month.
