“I strongly believe in the power of mentorship and have greatly benefited from having mentors throughout my career,” Amazon’s Melis del Rey, Health and Beauty General Manager, told CEW in an article today which tracks her career. With a Phd in engineering design, she started out helping to design the Airbus A380, before going on to work at P&G, in a range of sales and marketing roles, before joining Amazon in the U.K. in 2014. “I helped build the health and beauty business for Amazon in the U.K. from scratch, as it was very underdeveloped when I started,” del Rey told CEW reporter Annie Tomlin. “For the past three years, I’ve been working in the U.S., continuing that work to expand Amazon’s presence in health and beauty.”

In working motherhood news, the inaugural Working Mothers Summit recently took place in Boston, hosted by Shirley Leung, celebrating “the realities and challenges faced by working mothers, offering a platform for advocacy and discussion,” according to Times News Global. 

In beauty news, The Fragrance Foundation (TFF) has announced some of the winners of the 2025 Fragrance Foundation Awards, which will take place at a ceremony on June 5 at Lincoln Center. Daniela Andrier, master perfumer at Givaudan, will be honored with The Lifetime Achievement Perfumer award, and the 2025 Hall of Fame Award will be presented to Ralph Lauren, executive chairman and chief creative officer of The Ralph Lauren Corporation.

Henson has acquired her beauty brand from Maesa, for an undisclosed sum. “Over the past few months I have been in discussions with my partners at Maesa regarding the future of the TPH by Taraji brand, and am pleased to say we have reached a mutually beneficial agreement that has afforded me the opportunity to buy back TPH,” said Henson in a statement. Meanwhile, WWD revealed that L’Oréal Paris has tapped Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, AKA Emily in Paris’ Sylvie Grateau, as an Ambassador. “By audaciously celebrating age as a strength, Philippine breathes a surge of freedom, becoming a true source of inspiration for women around the world,” commented Marie-Julie Monnot, general manager of L’Oréal Paris, France. The French actress-producer will appear in an Age Perfect Collagen Expert campaign in June.
