Today, CEW shares Circana’s must-read, deep dive into dupes, and specifically their popularity with Gen Z and Millennials. “While fragrance dupes have existed for years, thanks to #PerfumeTok and Gen Z’s attention, the popularity has grown significantly over the past year,” write Circana’s Jackie Wenskus and Natallia Bambiza. “Similarly, when it comes to makeup, dupes seem to be more appealing to younger consumers.”

Speaking of Gen Z, Ekta Yadav M.D., host of the “Skincare Anarchy” podcast, has trained her focus on the generation, with the debut of her TEEN product certification seal. It follows the launch of the S.A.F.E (Scientifically Approved Formula & Efficacy) seal for beauty and wellness products. “We are now facing this problem of teens who want to have fun and play with beauty and skin care products and who don’t look at ingredients,” Yadav told CEW. “I was speaking with a pediatric oncologist about it, and we decided there must be a standard, some sort of criteria, that determines what these young people are putting on their skin. Also at CEW, we unpack the findings of a new survey by the American Academy of Dermatology that reveals a startling lack of awareness of the long-term health risks of UV damage.

In breaking scent news, the Beach House Group – the Los Angeles-based incubator behind Tracee Ellis Ross’ Pattern Beauty and Millie Bobby Brown’s Florence by Mills — has  unveiled its first fragrance brand, Noyz. The vegan and unisex range was created together with master perfumer Jérôme Epinette, and will enter Ulta Beauty stores in the coming months. Also in fragrance, Michelle Pfeiffer’s brand, Henry Rose, has appointed Laure de Metz as its new CEO. In other executive news, Shane Wolf has joined The Estée Lauder Companies as President, Global Brands, Aveda, Bumble and bumble, while French luxury house Marc-Antoine Barrois — which is launching its sixth scent, TILIA — has tapped Marie-Laure Dubuisson as the Group’s General Manager.

With the Paris Olympics on the horizon, Olay has tapped Sha’Carri Richardson, the fastest woman in the world and favorite for the USA Track & Field Olympic team, as one of five new athlete faces, representing Olay Cleansing Melts.
