With Virginie Viard’s departure from her role as artistic director of Chanel making style headlines, the French fashion and beauty house has confirmed its autumn/winter haute couture show will still take place in Paris later this month. Meanwhile, at CEW, we talk to Donna Pohlad, Founder of the award-winning home hair color brand dpHUE, and Janice Lee, the company’s new VP of Innovation, Marketing, and Consumer Engagement, about its latest launch: Color Dream. The new demi-permanent dye refreshes color and shine between salon visits. “Hair color has always been my passion, and Color Dream is a natural extension of that,” Pohlad told CEW reporter Kavita Daswani. “It’s designed to appeal to consumers from Gen Z to Boomers.”

Speaking of advances in hair color tech, L’Oréal Paris will launch its new Colorsonic home hair color device at Target in July. Eliminating the need for single-use plastic dye and developer bottles, the applicator offers a more sustainable approach to DIY coloring and is designed to deposit the perfect amount of product. The company partnered with Kickstarter to engage with “early tech adopters” and assess response, and the Colorsonic sold out within days. Also in hair care, Rihanna will add Fenty Hair to her beauty portfolio on June 13. “I have had almost every texture, color [and] length, from weaves and braids to natural,” said the singer, who teased the expansion on her Instagram, billing it as “a flexible line of products for every hair want.”

In skin care news, Philosophy’s first Skin Care Academy, located in the Empire State Building, is giving visitors the opportunity to discover products, and learn more about their skin in the process. “We’re not just opening our doors; we’re opening minds, fostering a deeper appreciation for science, and welcoming everyone into the heart of Coty’s transformative journey,” said Andrea DiNunzio, Coty’s U.S. General Manager of Prestige Skin Care. Meanwhile, former Estée Lauder executive Sabrina Yavil has launched Gryme, a skin care brand for Gen Alpha boys designed to appeal to its target audience while addressing parents’ concerns about ingredients safety. Launching with a Body + Face Wash, its slogan is, “All Rad. Zero Bad.”
