Over 1,300 people gathered on Monday night to remember Leonard Lauder, at a memorial service which took place at Lincoln Center. WWD reports on the celebration of Mr Lauder’s life and extraordinary legacy, with photos. “The crowd was as diversified — and powerful — as his interests as a host of executives from the company he powered joined designers, including Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Diane von Furstenberg and Vera Wang; art world heavyweights like the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Max Hollein; actress Candice Bergen; socialites and philanthropists Julia Koch, Marie-Josée Kravis, Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch; and many more,” reports WWD.

In other headlines, as part of a restructuring of its beauty and fragrance business, Coty has announced the integration of its prestige and mass fragrances, and the appointment of Gordon von Bretten President of Consumer Beauty. “Under this new structure, Coty will fully leverage its scale across R&D, consumer insights, manufacturing, and distribution to strengthen the company’s revenue and profit engine,” reports Beauty Packaging. Speaking of scent, Givaudan has acquired US-based fragrance house Belle Aire Creations, for an undisclosed sum.

In other executive news, LG Household & Health Care has named Lee Sun-joo, a veteran beauty executive with over three decades of industry experience, as its new CEO. Lee headed up Yves Saint Laurent and Kiehl’s in Korea, for L’Oréal, before taking over the helm of the group’s mass market division.

The British Beauty Council is counting down to British Beauty Week, which runs from 20 to 26 October, and has announced the full line-up of events. The activities will center on the theme of ‘The Future of Beauty’, covering areas such as AI-powered beauty tech, new manufacturing techniques, sustainability, and consumer trends. Meanwhile, the Italian Trade Agency has partnered with Beauty Independent for the Beauty Made in Italy program, with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA).
