Black Girl Sunscreen

Shontay Lundy, the Creator and Founder of Black Girl Sunscreen (BGS), is a trailblazer in the beauty industry. With a personal mission to address the lack of sunscreen options for women with darker skin tones, Shontay embarked on a journey fueled by her MBA and determination.

Experiencing the frustration of white residue left by traditional products firsthand, Shontay was inspired to develop a sunscreen “for us, by us.” Her innovative approach has garnered attention from Forbes, Business Insider, Teen Vogue, InStyle, and other national publications, solidifying her status as a thought leader. In addition to being a sought after keynote speaker, she has also appeared in national commercials, docuseries, and on numerous panels.

Through her relentless dedication, Shontay has sold over 2 million tubes of sunscreen and secured groundbreaking partnerships, including becoming the first black-owned sunscreen brand to collaborate with Disney Studios and the official sponsor of USC’s women’s track & field.

Her advocacy for sun safety extends beyond product creation; she travels the world educating women of color about the importance of sunscreen. Shontay’s achievements reflect her commitment to innovation and empowerment within the industry.

In addition to her entrepreneurial pursuits, Shontay embraces new challenges as a host on her syndicated radio show, Shamelessly Shontay. Outside of work, she finds solace in skiing, hiking, and yoga, cherishing leisure moments with her three bulldogs in Southern California. Shontay Lundy epitomizes resilience, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her vision of inclusive beauty and sun safety.
