It’s cool to be kind. At CEW today, we spotlight the beauty companies currently tapping into the virtue that today’s consumer is looking for when choosing between brands. “Customers are increasingly seeking out “kind” brands that embody the values they believe in, causes they will fight for, and the impact they want to make,” reports Belisa Silva, who unpacks the stories behind the brands making kindness their mission and their message. Among them is Beekman 1802 which has introduced Kindness Coaches, offering virtual, certified life coaching consultations to customers on a complementary basis. “We really look at kindness as wellness,” says Dr. Brent Ridge, the company’s co-founder. Meanwhile, Thrive Causemetics and Bigger Than Beauty Skincare currently support eight causes: cancer, domestic abuse, homelessness and poverty, veterans, racial and social justice, under-resourced youth, education, and LGBTQ+.

In breaking executive news, L’Oréal USA has appointed Silvia Galfo as President of its Luxe Division, succeeding Megan Grant. Galfo has been with the company for more than 20 years, most recently as the division’s Chief Growth Officer. “She is a long-term L’Oréalian with a world view on beauty and luxury,” said David Greenberg, Chief Executive Officer of L’Oréal USA and the President of its North America zone. “I am confident that Silvia’s strong leadership and consumer orientation will continue to drive the luxe brand portfolio to new heights in the United States.”

On the fragrance front, CEW reports on the debut of Wonderbloom, Parlux’s new creation for the Vince Camuto fragrance portfolio, which is vegan-based and designed to appeal to Gen Z’s sustainability-savvy. The fruit and citrus-based scent has Ava Phillippe — daughter of actors Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe — as its Global Ambassador. Meanwhile, Give Back Beauty has announced its acquisition of INCC Parfums, which includes the licenses for the Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach. Also in scent news, Charlotte Tilbury has unveiled The Fragrance Collection of Emotions, the company’s first foray into the category, available via the brand’s app beginning April 30, before rolling out online and in stores on May 2.
