In the four years since Susan Kim took over at the helm of Kopari Beauty as CEO, the brand has seen unprecedented growth. “According to the latest statistics from Circana, Kopari Beauty is the fastest-growing prestige skin care brand in the U.S. (among the top 100) and the number-one prestige body SPF brand,” writes CEW reporter Didi Gluck. Kim, who worked in marketing for brands including L’Oréal, Benefit Cosmetics, and Huda Beauty, before joining Kopari Beauty, discusses the brand’s transformation, and how she galvanizes her team. “I think of my team as my customers: how do I service them and help them do well at their jobs?” she said. “The beauty industry is such a tight-knit community, I just love it.”

Last week, in a fireside chat with CEW chairwoman Jill Scalamandre, David Greenberg, L’Oréal USA CEO, shared how he sees the company evolving as the beauty landscape changes. “What hasn’t changed is it’s still about products, it’s still about an amazing item that people want,” he said. “It’s still about a great lipstick and how something feels and makes you feel.” In other event news, The Fragrance Foundation’s 2024 Awards ceremony at Lincoln Center was a sellout, drawing over 1,000 guests. Among those honored was Gilles Andrier, Givaudan CEO, who received the Hall of Fame award, and Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud who was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Perfumer award.

In product news, the first body care range for new mothers to be available at U.S. Sephora will debut at the retailer’s website this month. Luna Daily’s new Motherhood Collection includes five products and will launch on June 25. Meanwhile, in hair care, celebrity hair stylist Andrew Fitzsimons has acquired his eponymous brand from Maesa, for an undisclosed sum.

On the other side of the pond, Lancôme opens the doors to Idôle House on Friday – a two-day, pop-up shop in London’s Covent Garden. Timed to celebrate the launch of the brand’s new Lip Idôle ButterGlow lip balm. The event will feature masterclasses by Lancôme make-up artists, personalized makeup stations and more. “We are pleased to open the doors of Idôle House, a concept tailor-made for make-up enthusiasts, for the first time in London, where we get a chance to connect with our consumers and share our make-up expertise,” said Francois Lehmann, Lancôme’s Global President.
