While fashion and beauty insiders are busy unpacking the hottest looks from the MET Gala 2024 red carpet last night, we’re looking ahead to the CEW 2024 Visionary Awards, taking place in Los Angeles this evening. Nancy Twine, CEO and Founder of Briogeo, will be our Keynote speaker. Twine sold her hair care brand to Wella in 2022, and tells reporter Genevieve Monsma about all she’s been doing since – including the creation of her new $1 million Dream Makers Founders Grant.

In breaking news, Circana reports that beauty sales growth slowed in Q1. “The beauty industry is a reflection of an industry stabilizing after strong double-digit performance for the past two years,” said Larissa Jensen, Global Beauty Industry Advisor at Circana. Andrea Nagel reports on each category’s performance on CEW.org.

Also at CEW, ViralMoment April 2024 has dropped, breaking down TikTok’s trending beauty looks and products. This month’s report focuses on six microtrends in the skin care and makeup communities, with glow-getting products and shiny lips taking center stage, and L-shaped blush placement still going strong. Highlighted, too, are conversations about “unsexy” but effective skin care, the Bollywood-inspired #asokamakeup trend, and more.

In market news, Coty has reported a rise in net revenues of 8% to $1.38 billion in the third quarter of its fiscal year ended March 31. “Our growth is further reinforced by our strong e-commerce momentum,” noted Sue Nabi, Coty’s Chief Executive Officer. Coty holds the licenses for Burberry, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, and Davidoff fragrances, and has just announced a new, long-term agreement with Lena Gercke, a German TV presenter, model, and entrepreneur. Coty will formulate, create, and distribute Gerke’s first scent. Meanwhile, Puig’s IPO proved to be the biggest listing so far this year, with the Spanish company’s start price above the 24.50 euro offering.
