L’Oréal Paris has its sights set on meeting two skin care trends—texture and glow—with the launch of several new items, due out in July.

Meeting the “glow” criteria is L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Glow Renewal Facial Oil and L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Glow Renewal Day/Night Cream.

The Facial Oil marks the brand’s entry into the dynamic niche segment, which counts among its leading players Josie Maran, Bobbi Brown and Jurlique. According to NPD, sales of face oils in U.S. department stores reached nearly $14.9 million in 2012, up from $11.5 million in 2011. L’Oréal Paris’ version brings the first concentrated facial oil to the mass market, designed to boost skin’s natural radiance and provide hydration with a blend of eight essential oils, including English lavender, rosemary leaf, geranium, orange peel, Roman chamomile, rose flower, lavandin and marjoram leaf.

The Day/Night Cream, an ultra-lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer designed to be layered with the Facial Oil contains jasmine and soy extracts, ceramides and royal jelly for skin brightening.

Each Glow item will retail for $24.99.

Texture, another target of L’Oréal Paris, is being addressed with Youth Code Texture Perfector Collection, targeting visible pores and fine lines.

Dr. Gervaise Gerstner, L’Oréal Paris Consulting Dermatologist, said while texture is a generic term, L’Oréal is aiming to “capture the luminosity of skin, address plumpness, fine lines and overall make skin look less dusty.”

The range includes two multitasking treatments, a concentrated Serum and a hydrating Day/Night Cream. Texture Perfector products contain Perline-P an association of three perfecting actives that helps optimize the quality of skin’s surface in three dimensions: Pores, Texture, Lines. The Serum contains LR 2412, L’Oréal’s patent-pending ingredient, designed to visibly correct the skin.

“The antioxidants in the Texture Perfector, both in the Serum and the Cream” are what help make the items efficacious. The two do not need to be used together. “I tend to use thicker creams, but with Texture Perfector, I like the Serum.”

Each item will sell for $24.99 beginning in July.
