Why is CEW membership important to you?
Being a founder and entrepreneur in the beauty industry for over 25 years, CEW is a wonderful resource in the amazing world of beauty. The education, events, and community engagement is what makes this organization unique and special. In today’s world of connectivity, CEW is vital for relationship building, and staying ahead of the beauty curve.
Do you have any tips for getting the most out of CEW membership?
My motto in life is: you need to show up to go up. To get the most out of CEW, participate and get involved. Don’t wait for someone to connect with you, reach out and connect. The world is waking up after Covid, and now is the time to connect with anyone in the network that you believe could be beneficial for your career growth. Being connected in CEW can provide you with knowledge; and that knowledge is power to be the best you can be. Supporting CEW and supporting those who believe in beauty.
Do you have any career regrets or something you wish you would have done differently? If so, what and how did you learn from it?
I have learned that what is important is the “inner view” not the “inter-view”. Education and experience certainly matter, but for me the most important values are passion, pride, loyalty, and the hustle factor.
The core values of team members that help you grow your business is the most important thing that I have learned about building a world class, global brand.
How important has mentorship been in your career journey?
My father was my first and most important mentor in my life. Even though he was a farmer, far from the beauty industry, he taught me the principles of being successful and being happy. From that point on, I have been so fortunate to have some of the best mentors in the business. They have helped me navigate unchartered waters and given me the confidence to make tough decisions. I am now mentoring many women across the globe to be the best they can be. Founding a global brand is great, but my greatest joy is giving back to others.
What advice would you give someone who is inspired by your career and one day wants to be in a similar position?
I would say go for it. If you have a dream, a clear vision, and the perseverance to crush the competition, then absolutely do it. I’m not great at advice, but in my experience if you surround yourself with winners, hustlers, and positivity, you will fulfill your dreams. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. It’s never an easy road to success; but anything is possible.
In which ways has the events surrounding Covid-19 affected your company and your day-to-day role?
For our professional, global, skincare business every spa was closed on this planet for many months; yet we continued to grow our business. This was a learning and growing opportunity for our team. We continued to support the professional offering virtual consultations, educating our customers how to pivot to digital, and continually staying connected with our professionals. This was a unique experience for us to keep our customers motivated and educated during this difficult time. When given a lemon, always turn it into lemonade.
What’s next?
I continue to evolve as a woman, a leader, a mother, and be inspired by innovation. The skincare and beauty industry is so exciting today. The new developments, the science, and the research continues to make me enthusiastic to our motto of “Age Later”. I’m trying my best to live this motto every day!
