Manhattan-based dermatologist Dr. Howard Sobel has received a patent for SD-100 concentrate – a proprietary technology used in his skin care line Sobel SkinRx. The patented concentrate mimics a skin-identical membrane structure, allowing for active skin repair and protection of the skin using a time-released delivery system that is designed to promote easier (and better) absorption of potent, active ingredients. Traditional creams use emulsifiers that can disrupt skin. In contrast, SD-100 concentrate, which was two years in the making, looks to provide 1,000 times better protection than conventional creams and 10 times better delivery of actives. In addition, the technology is designed to protect against free radicals, premature aging, pollutants and toxins, and increase skin hydration.

Many items in Sobel SkinRx contain SD-100, including 4.5% Retinol Night Treatment Complex, Bio Hyaluronic Moisture Cream Extreme, and Triple Oligo Peptide Eye Cream.

“I was observing an increase in skin irritation, inflammation and barrier damage, all things that contribute to an acceleration in the formation of fine lines and wrinkles, flakiness, dark spots, and overall skin dehydration. With SD-100 concentrate, skin is protected, repaired, and strengthened, promoting a brighter, more hydrated, and youthful complexion,” said Dr. Sobel. The line, which launched in 2018, is also sold on Sephora.com, QVC.com, and on the brand’s website, DrSobelSkinRx.com. Items are priced from $42 to $105.
