At CEW today, Andrea Harrison —VP, Merchandising Beauty/Personal Care & Hispanic Center of Excellence, CVS Health — talks candidly to CEW about her career, from the challenges she has faced as a working mother, to her pioneering work advocating for transparency and inclusion. “I’m proud of the impact I feel like I have, and it’s an important part of my story,” she tells reporter Genevieve Monsma. “One of the projects I’m proudest of at CVS is Beauty Unaltered. We received letters from organizations treating girls with eating disorders and image issues, all thanking us for putting a stake in the ground and taking a stand about transparency.”

In celebration of International Women’s Day, CEW honors inspirational female trailblazers and change makers within the health and beauty arena with a trio of articles you’ll want to bookmark: The Future of Femtech: Closing the Health Gap for BIPOC Women; The Rise of Rest-ern Beauty, which explores emerging Beauty Markets, with insights from sparks & honey; and a report on Urban Skin Rx’s Mentorship Program.

In consumer trends, tween and teen skin care is booming, according to research from NIQ. “In 2023, 46% of growth in the facial skin care category was driven by households with tweens or teens,” writes Anna Mayo, VP Beauty Vertical NIQ, who unpacks the findings at CEW. Meanwhile, tracking with the trend, Dove has launched its new #THEFACEOF10 campaign, offering a Blueprint For Age-Positivity. “At Dove, we believe beauty should be a source of happiness, not anxiety,” says Firdaous El Honsali, the brand’s Global Vice President. “Today, our girls are anti-aging before they’ve even started to grow up and need us more than ever.” A video, pinned to Dove’s TikTok page features advice from Dr. Phillippa Diedrichs, and body image expert certified dermatologist Dr. Marisa Garshick.

In breaking news, Sephora has announced its partnership with Dr. Shereene Idriss, with the Dr. Idriss range due to launch via the Sephora app today, before rolling out to selected stores and online. “Led by founder and leading board-certified dermatologist Dr. Idriss, this brand takes a thoughtful formula-first approach to skin care, offering simple-yet-effective solutions that are focused on consistency and backed by science,” says Carolyn Bojanowski, Sephora’s executive vice president of merchandising.
