Ulta Beauty’s award-winning customer loyalty program has had a New Year’s makeover. The new Ulta Beauty Rewards program (formerly Ultamate Beauty Rewards) offers even more advantages to its 42.2 million-strong active members, including tweaks to its birthday gift experience. “The program enables a higher share of wallet against competitors as well as deeper insights about what shoppers really want to find in-store,” writes Andrea Nagel, who details the developments in the company’s already-thriving loyalty program at CEW today. Ulta is also making headlines with its announcement that it will be stocking the Charlotte Tilbury range online beginning February 4, as well as at 600 stores later that month.
On the hair care front, The Texture Education Collective, an alliance founded by professional industry brands including Aveda, L’Oréal USA, DevaCurl, and Neill, has succeeded in implementing new textured hair legislation in New York. The new law, set to take full effect within the next six months, requires Cosmetology State Board licensing to incorporate education, training and testing on all hair types and textures. “As a woman with textured hair, this achievement holds a special significance for me,” says New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, who co-sponsored the legislation. “It’s a victory for diversity, inclusion, and ensuring that everyone, regardless of their hair type, receives the attention and expertise they deserve in the salon.”
Beauty brands selling via TikTok Shop will face higher seller fees beginning April 1. Initially set at 2%, the rate will increase to 8% (excluding pricier products such as electronics, which will be charged at a lower rate).
