Spring has sprung, and the CEW March 2024 Product Watch has dropped. Reporter Polly Blitzer unpacks the blossoming newcomers of note across all categories, which include Augustinus Bader’s Geranium Rose Body Oil; Charlotte Tilbury’s tri-phase, cream-to-foam milk cleanser; and a tinted version of Eucerin’s bestselling Age Defense sunscreen. In makeup, Guerlain’s first Terracotta concealer and new blush join the legendary line-up, while Gucci Westman’s first lipstick for Westman Atelier, Lip Suede, will soon be followed by refills. In fragrance, Jo Malone London’s new Frangipani Flower Cologne is being supported by an extensive campaign, launching today, in-stores and on social media. “We are partnering with 20 top-tier talents across key markets in New York, Miami and Los Angeles,” said a spokesperson.

Speaking of scent, today is National Fragrance Day, and The Fragrance Foundation is celebrating in brick-and-mortar stores, and on social media. Among the participating retailers are Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, and Bath & Body Works. Fittingly for Women’s History Month, this year’s event sees more launches from female perfumers than before, and more female-founded scent brands.

On another fragrant note, Scent Lab has secured seed funding, and hired Ali Kriegsman, former COO and Co-Founder of retail and wholesale marketplace start up Bulletin, as Co-Founder and CMO. Investors include Midnight Venture Partners. “Scent Lab caught our attention because they’re doing something different in the crowded fragrance market — they’re making fragrance personal again,” says Chris Aydam, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Midnight Venture Partners. “It’s their mix of innovation, non-toxic ingredients and market potential that made Scent Lab a clear choice for our investment.”

Having seen retail sales double to $300 million last year, Glow Recipe is expanding into a range of new markets, including Mexico (in 38 Sephora stores), Colombia and Chile, as well as 14 additional European markets since its arrival at Sephora in France last year. Last month’s launch of Hue Drops, a tinted version of the bestselling Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops, was the biggest in the brand’s history. “It’s our top SKU in North America and also in key international markets,” says Christine Chang, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, with Sarah Lee.
