Holiday mode may be activated, but the beauty world doesn’t stand still. Looking ahead to the next five years, Clare Henningan, Senior Global Beauty and Personal Care Analyst at Mintel, offers her in-depth analysis on the top trends and marketing strategies brands need to know about at Beauty Independent. She highlights three key areas identified by the market intelligence agency: Sophisticated Simplicity (think “quiet luxury”), Neurocosmetics (products which focus on mind-body connection), and Beauty-AI (from try-on technology to marketing campaigns, with transparency being vital for maintaining consumer trust). Among the takeaways are the importance of “small luxuries” to beauty shoppers amidst the cost of living crisis, and product efficacy (see multi-tasking formulas, and lower molecular weights).

Its first luxury fragrance is predicted to launch in spring 2026.

In tech, Unilever has opened a Global Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in Toronto, Canada. Horizon3 Labs is part of the company’s broader investment in AI technology and machine learning.
