Pattern Beauty has named Christiane Pendarvis co-CEO of the company, joining founder and co-CEO Tracee Ellis Ross and Brand President Rachel Jonas Gilman as a third key executive on the company’s senior leadership team.  The addition of Pendarvis marks a pivotal moment for Pattern, signaling a new era of growth in which she is charged with helping drive strategy to scale further the company, which is dedicated to innovating the natural hair category.

Pendarvis brings more than 25 years’ experience leading direct-to-consumer and omni-channel retail businesses. Her career has focused on retail general management and merchandising, running multi-million-dollar businesses at Fortune 500 brands such as Old Navy and Victoria’s Secret. Most recently, Pendarvis was Co-President of Savage X Fenty. Under her leadership, the company delivered impressive substantial revenue growth and successfully closed two financing rounds.

“To be able to attract somebody of Christiane’s gravitas and business building caliber is precisely what Pattern Beauty needs in order to continue executing on my vision for it to become the preeminent leader in the curly, coily, and tight textured hair category,” said Ellis Ross in a statement.

Pattern launched in 2019 on patternbeauty.com and through an exclusive partnership with Ulta Beauty with 19 SKUS that offered ingredient-rich formulas to deliver healthy, hydrated hair.  By 2021, the brand had expanded to all Sephora US and Canada locations, followed by a UK launch at Boots in 2022. The brand diversified in 2023, introducing a blow dryer, ushering in an era of curl-conscious heat. Today, Pattern, which is still majority owned by Ellis Ross, is available in 10 retailers globally with more than 50 SKUs across four categories: Wash, Style, Treat, and Heat.

“I am thrilled to join the Pattern Beauty team and be a part of a brand that fearlessly celebrates Black beauty in all its forms. Tracee, Rachel Gilman, and the entire Pattern Beauty team have built a brand with superior quality products,” said Pendarvis in a statement. “Their unique understanding of the specific hair care needs of their customers is the reason why the brand has such high customer loyalty and engagement. I’m excited to be a part of Pattern Beauty’s continued growth.”
